War’s 1982 album Outlaw offers a distinctive blend of focused listening that sets it apart from the band’s earlier funk and rock fusion. Tracks like “Beware It’s A Jungle Out There” and the title cut “Outlaw” showcase a more intimate, acoustic ensemble approach, providing a fresh perspective on War’s sound without sacrificing their signature groove. The album fits neatly into the early ’80s landscape while retaining the band’s unique voice, making it an intriguing listen for those who appreciate nuanced musicianship over bombast. This 1982 pressing on vinyl comes in near-mint condition, presenting exceptionally clean grooves that suggest careful handling and minimal play. It’s a solid choice for collectors seeking a well-preserved piece of War’s discography that doesn’t shout for attention but quietly holds its own. If you’re the type who likes your funk with a side of subtlety, this pressing might just be your kind of outlaw on the shelves.
