VAR – Evita – 2xLP

Evita captures the original Broadway cast’s vibrant interpretation of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s musical, which first took London by storm in 1978 before arriving on the New York stage in 1979. Patti LuPone’s portrayal of Eva Perón and Mandy Patinkin’s Che Guevara bring a compelling theatrical intensity that helped define the show’s dramatic storytelling and emotional depth. This recording offers a snapshot of musical theater history, where rock-inspired compositions meet classic Broadway flair, making it a noteworthy listen for fans of stage productions and vocal performance alike. This 1979 vinyl pressing presents the album in a straightforward format that suits collectors interested in original Broadway soundtracks from that era. While it may not be flawless, the sound quality remains solid enough to appreciate the cast’s dynamic performances. A Broadway record like this can find its place neatly between showtunes and theatrical archives on your shelves—after all, even the most dramatic story benefits from a bit of room to breathe.
