New Values finds Iggy Pop stepping away from his raw punk beginnings into a more reflective and melodic space, guided by producer James Williamson’s steady hand. Tracks like “Tell Me A Story” and the title cut “New Values” showcase a leaner, acoustic-driven band that still carries Iggy’s restless spirit but with a sharper focus on songwriting and mood. This 1979 album sits comfortably between the grit of his early work and the explorations that would follow, offering a quieter but no less compelling side of the artist. This pressing from 1979 preserves that balance on vinyl, presenting a clean listening experience with only minor surface marks typical for a used copy. The VG++ condition promises glossy grooves with very little interference, making it a solid choice for those who appreciate Iggy’s more nuanced moments. The record’s straightforward production and intimate ensemble feel might convince you that sometimes less really is more—especially when it comes from a figure who’s no stranger to turning up the volume.
