Eddie Murphy’s self-titled 1982 live album offers a window into the comedian’s sharp wit and storytelling at a moment when his stand-up was carving out a distinct place in American comedy. With tracks like “Buckwheat,” “Boogie In Your Butt,” and “The Pope And Ronald Reagan,” Murphy showcases a blend of character-driven humor and incisive social commentary, all delivered with his unmistakable charisma. The album’s acoustic ensemble setting keeps the focus squarely on Murphy’s voice and timing, making it a revealing listen for fans of comedy that’s as much about personality as punchlines. This 1982 Columbia pressing presents the album on vinyl in very good plus condition, with a glossy surface and only minor, light marks that won’t disrupt listening. For collectors or fans intrigued by Murphy’s early recorded work, this pressing provides a faithful snapshot of his live performance energy without fuss or filler. It’s the kind of record that might not make you laugh out loud in the aisle, but it’s clear enough to appreciate on repeat, proving Murphy’s humor is as resilient as his career.
