Eddie Murphy’s Comedian offers a snapshot of his stand-up craft in a focused listening format that leans on intimate, acoustic-style delivery rather than full-band bravado. This 1983 pressing presents Murphy’s sharp wit and social commentary across tracks like “Faggots Revisited / Sexual Prime” and “Politics / Racism,” balancing humor with pointed observations. It’s a record that finds Murphy working a concise setup, almost like telling jokes in a small club rather than a sprawling comedy arena—proof that sometimes less is more when the punchlines land. This vinyl comes in a well-preserved VG+ condition, meaning you can expect just minor surface marks and faint scuffs typical of regular play, without distracting from the listening experience. It’s a straightforward pressing from 1983 that fits neatly into any collection of comedy or spoken-word albums, especially for those who appreciate the clarity of a compact ensemble approach to stand-up. If you’re curious how Murphy’s early comedic voice sounds when stripped to essentials, this record keeps things clear and direct—no side-splitting distractions, just the jokes.
