Known especially for the haunting “In The Air Tonight,” the album blends rock and pop with layered acoustic arrangements and subtle orchestral touches, including cello and violin contributions that enrich the texture without overwhelming the focused listening experience. Collins’ role as arranger alongside Tom Tom 84, and the engineering work of Hugh Padgham, bring a polished yet personal feel to the record, making it a distinctive entry in his catalog that balances emotional depth with accessible songwriting. This 1981 vinyl pressing provides a solid snapshot of that era’s sound and production values, pressed on a single LP ideal for those who appreciate the tactile appeal of classic vinyl. The copy’s VG+ condition suggests light surface marks or minor scuffs that won’t interfere with the clarity of tracks like “This Must Be Love” or the rhythmic drive of “I Missed Again.” It’s the sort of record that sits comfortably in the collection without demanding special handling, much like the way Collins’ voice carries the songs—present and clear, never too fussy about its surroundings. Phil Collins. Face Value.
