Midnight Magic from the Commodores blends the band’s signature funk and soul with touches of disco flair, delivering a polished yet heartfelt set that includes tracks like “Sail On” and “12:01 A.M.” The arrangements by Harold Hudson and the Commodores themselves, alongside production by James Anthony Carmichael, give this album a smooth, focused listening experience that stands out in their late-’70s catalog. The artwork, created by John Cabalka and team, complements the music’s sleek vibe without distracting from the grooves inside. This 1979 pressing offers stereo sound on vinyl in a traditional LP format. The record is in very good plus condition, showing a glossy surface with only minor, light paper scuffs and faint lines that don’t interfere with play. For anyone organizing a shelf, it’s one of those records that might just slip quietly into a funk and soul section without causing a scene—much like the band itself, which always knew how to let the music do the talking.
