Renaissance’s Ashes Are Burning stands out for its intricate arrangements that weave classical strings with folk and rock elements, creating a richly textured soundscape ideal for focused listening. Produced and engineered by Dick Plant alongside the band, the album highlights the group’s ability to blend acoustic instrumentation with progressive touches, guided by Richard Hewson’s string contributions. The result is a carefully crafted record that rewards patient ears, much like a novel that unfolds its chapters slowly rather than shouting from the bookshelf. This 1973 vinyl pressing offers a solid opportunity to explore that layered sound in its vintage form. The record is graded VG+, indicating it plays well with only minor surface marks or light scuffs that won’t interfere significantly with playback. It’s a dependable copy for those who appreciate the craftsmanship of Renaissance’s acoustic ensemble and want to add an authentic early ’70s pressing to their collection without chasing flawless perfection. After all, even finely arranged music benefits from a little room to breathe, on and off the grooves.
