John Butler – Ocean

John Butler’s Ocean documents a solo performance at the Sydney Opera House, putting the spotlight squarely on the guitar piece that has become closely tied to his name. The live setting is a big part of the appeal here: Butler’s acoustic-rooted playing pulls from folk, blues, and rock, with the performance built around his guitar work rather than a full-band studio setup. This 2015 vinyl pressing is the limited edition of 1,700 copies, a meaningful detail for anyone who follows Butler’s catalog on wax. The record is graded NM, with vinyl that looks almost untouched: glossy, clean, and with no visible lines, scuffs, or sleeve marks noted. At $38, this copy’s main appeal is the combination of a limited pressing and very clean vinyl condition.
