Ray Barretto – Barretto – LP

Ray Barretto – Barretto

This is a 1975 vintage pressing of Ray Barretto’s album *Barretto* on vinyl. Ray Barretto was a prominent American percussionist and bandleader of Puerto Rican descent, known for his influential role in Latin jazz, salsa, and boogaloo. Throughout his career, he helped popularize Latin music styles in the United States, building on early successes like his 1962 hit “El Watusi.” This album reflects Barretto’s continued exploration of Latin, salsa, jazz, and funk/soul genres during the mid-1970s. The vinyl is graded VG, indicating it has visible surface wear and light scratches but should play through with some surface noise, especially in quieter sections. The cover shows damage and has taped bongos, consistent with its vintage status. This pressing offers a snapshot of Barretto’s dynamic sound during a key period in Latin music history.
